Strong winds this week are keeping everyone at the dock but this should push the dolphin (mahi) in close. The boat has been undergoing update in the last couple of weeks but will be ready in a few days to get back on the water.

Mullet run has started which means the snook, jack, tarpon, Spanish mackerel and sharks are following the massive schools of bait. It's quite an experience to see on the water with so much activity even into the night. Offshore the dolphin (mahi-mahi) bite has been excellent with all of the floating debris from Hurricane Irma. Smaller bait will seek shelter under the debris and the dolphin will almost always be hanging around underneath. We can throw jigs to get their attention or chunks of bait. Typically a school of dolphin will get into a feeding frenzy making it easy to fill up the cooler.

The boat has just a few more weeks of updating and she will be back on the water. I am installing new fuel tanks, electronics, rub rail and a new seat.

The kingfish bite continues to be consistently productive with fish up to 30 lbs. Throughout the day we are coming across several schools of smaller dolphin offshore with a few nicer fish mixed in. The larger dolphin will typically stick to the back or deeper of the school. You can throw a weighted jig or chunk bait to lure the big bull out of the school to eat. Steady action again today. 30 lb king, small dolphin and lots of bonito #seapremacyfishingcharters

Fishing has been very good on the days we can get out and fish. There has been a lot of wind for this time of year. We have been releasing 1 or 2 sails every trip. We are finding them in 200-300 ft from the Lake Worth and Palm Beach Inlet to the Jupiter Inlet, and kingfish are running in 90-100 ft.

Large blackfin tuna and kingfish have been the most consistent with lots of bonito to pull on in between the action. Kings, tunas, bonitos and sails should continue to bite thru next week.

Last week we released several sailfish and had no shortage of blackfin tuna! Now through June are the best months to target the blackfin. They tend to stay deeper during daytime unless they are on the move following an easy school of bait on the surface! We can drop jigs or live bait down into reefs and wrecks and catch blackfin tuna as well. Once they find a spot they usually stick around.

The cobia we have caught have in 90-180 feet of water inside and a few outside of drop offs. Cobia can be caught on live bait and really anything moving that captures their attention. Once hooked up - be ready to hang on! Cobia put on quite a fight and it is well worth it too because they make for an excellent meal.

Dolphin (mahi) are also running - we have run into a few schools while drifting or looking for birds diving into bait. Bait fish tend to school closer to the top as a result of the strong currents of the Gulf Stream pushing them to the surface.

We fished the Boynton Beach Firefighters Fishing Tournament over the weekend in tough conditions and placed 1st for kingfish and 2nd for Lady Angler. With that being said the kingfish bite is still on and there are plenty of opportunities to bring in a hand full of fish!

This is a great time of year to target a huge variety of fish nearshore and offshore in the Palm Beach area.
