Out of Palm Beach the kingfish and dolphin have been on the reef with a few cobia showing up as well. In the Fall to early Winter season we expect for water temperatures to cool and as they do the wahoo and more cobia will begin to show up along with the possibility of a few early arriving sailfish. The dolphin (mahi) are migrating so we look for weed lines, floating debris and current rips. They will be eager to eat anything that crosses their sight!

Dolphin (mahi) will be continue to migrate, early in the season cobia can be found traveling with stingrays along the beach feasting on crabs and small fish kicked up by the rays. Strong winds this week are keeping everyone at the dock but this should push the dolphin (mahi) in close. The boat has been undergoing update in the last couple of weeks but will be ready in a few days to get back on the water.

Mullet run has started which means the snook, jack, tarpon, Spanish mackerel and sharks are following the massive schools of bait. It's quite an experience to see on the water with so much activity even into the night. Offshore the dolphin (mahi-mahi) bite has been excellent with all of the floating debris from Hurricane Irma. Smaller bait will seek shelter under the debris and the dolphin will almost always be hanging around underneath. We can throw jigs to get their attention or chunks of bait. Typically a school of dolphin will get into a feeding frenzy making it easy to fill up the cooler.

The boat has just a few more weeks of updating and she will be back on the water. I am installing new fuel tanks, electronics, rub rail and a new seat.

The kingfish bite continues to be consistently productive with fish up to 30 lbs. Throughout the day we are coming across several schools of smaller dolphin offshore with a few nicer fish mixed in. The larger dolphin will typically stick to the back or deeper of the school. You can throw a weighted jig or chunk bait to lure the big bull out of the school to eat. Kingfish are continuing to be very productive and expected to be our primary catch throughout the month. Plenty of bonito and a few blackfin tuna are still around as well. Both species put on a great fight for anglers especially when we can find them busting bait on the surface in large schools. Had a good showing of wahoo this week with 1 boat catching a 100 pounder. The late summer weather has been beautiful with not as many afternoon storms and looks great for the rest of the week.

Team Seapremacy wrapped up the final leg of the Bluewater Movements circuit with a 3rd place, which was good for 2nd place in the overall series!

I have been commercial fishing a few days throughout and as you  can see there is no shortage of kingfish in the area! Still a few sailfish around and plenty of bonito. Dolphin have been hit or miss offshore in our area but are definitely a welcomed surprise when we get on them! The schools will hold anywhere from 5 to 50+ fish and are eager to eat anything that swims by! Flat calm conditions all week with afternoon showers that we can typically work around and still have a safe and productive time offshore fishing.
